The owner of a weed-ridden property in Oakland, with chest high grasses, decided to plant a garden with only trees and plants that were medicinal, edible, or could be used for crafts. After recycled cardboard sheet-mulching, it continues to evolve into a food forest with seasonal cycles and its own reseeding process. By understanding the minimal water needed to irrigate different natives, medicinal, and vegetable plants, no irrigation was needed for this garden.
